In the 70s and 80s the DEFA-Studio for documentaries produced a special genre, the so-called Disco-Films. These films were music clips, art film shorts or short documentaries and were screened not only as an interlude in the movie theatres but also directly in the discotheques. Today they communicate an authentic picture of the aesthetic beliefs of pop in the GDR and a music video culture announcing itself - a collage with Manfred Krug, the Sterncombo Meißen, Silly and much more – even with the West-German band „Floh de Cologne“. http://www.defa.de.
