Mali Blues

by Lutz Gregor

In 2012, radical Islamists took control of northern Mali for nine months, dividing an already crisis-ridden country. Musical performances of almost any kind were severely punished.
Mali Blues contrasts the horrific images of this time with a collective longing for pluralistic togetherness. The film rests on the idea of the reconciling power of music, whose complementary diversity is expressed in the precise constellation of its protagonists.

by Timo Schierhorn and Mathis Menneking

SLIME. The anarchy-punks from Hamburg. Reunion. After 15 years. The voice from the dictaphone: an acoustic tour diary. By roadie Bully. No mincing words. Deep impressions of the contradictory life between punk nostalgia and bourgeoisie. A picture of Germany with motorways, pedestrian zones, no-nonsense hoterls, routinely managed events and ageing fans.

Dancefloor Caballeros

by Dirk Böll

17 young hipsters from Havana – DJs, VJs, producers with laptops – want to take their music out into the country and advertise their sound, a mix of traditional Cuban rhythms and techno. A film about and with provincial groupies, a broken band bus, search for sponsors in socialism and conflicts with representatives of another subculture: with Cuban rockers!
