Cabin Music
by James Carson
Life is too short for short distances
and monothematic tasks
James Carson | USA | 2022 | 74′ | OV
Cabin Music is a poetic meditation on a pianist’s search for a new form and language of music. James Carson is a composer, architect, director, sound engineer, editor, and globetrotter. After leaving the New England Conservatory in Boston, James Carson backpacks from Spain to Japan. A cinematic tapestry envelops the viewer in the beauty of nature and phenomena. At the center of the story is the unusual off-grid cabin in the Canadian wilderness that James single-handedly designs and builds upon his return. Here, away from it all, lived experiences and numerous threads interweave, and a new form of music emerges. Through the eyes of those James meets and works with on his journey, the film becomes a compelling reminder of our rootedness in nature and the power of art and spiritual tradition as we realign ourselves in the post-pandemic era. Featuring the Tuvan throat singers, Huun Huur Tu.
