BOLVIAN MUSICIANS STUCK IN BRANDENBURG –
A PANDEMIC FILM

In March 2020, 25 young musicians of the OEIN (Orquesta Experimental de Instrumentos Nativos), the Bolivian Experimental Orchestra for Indigenous Instruments, come from La Paz to Germany to play concerts in Berlin and Dresden. Due to the Corona pandemic the concerts are cancelled, shortly after Bolivia closes its borders – and the musicians are stuck for 3 months in the Music Academy Rheinsberg in Brandenburg.

Together with German colleagues from the ensembles PHØNIX16 and noiserkroiser, they use the crisis to work on various musical projects – especially improvisations of new and contemporary music.

By leaving the stage to the musicians and, above all, to the music itself, and by making the camera part of the improvisation process, “Aus den 84 Tagen” also addresses the question of how music can be filmed.

A film about music as a form of communication in a state of emergency.
