The film introduces us to the everyday life of one of the great Congolese orchestras of the present day and lets us dive into the secrets of the ‘Rumba Congolaise’. We are taken to the studio, to rehearsals and concerts, and get to know individual members of the almost 30-strong ensemble. Whoever gets involved in this wild round dance will be told another story: The story of finding one’s own artistic expression.

As the filmmakers describe it, “From local roots to patrons from the diaspora, the voices of Rumba Rules’ polyphony are past and present.”
